A Small Cantt with a knack of Adventure.

It’s a ritual that 5 of us friends go somewhere or anywhere every semester and in the beginning of this semester we all decided to visit Mangla as none of us had been there before. Mangla is famous for the dam that was built in 1965 and is still the 7th largest dam in the world besides that there’s a water sport club managed by the Army and of course a skeet shooting club in the Cantt.

Skeet shooting club

We had a room booked inside the Cantt for the Friday night and booking at sports club and skeet shooting on Saturday morning. Mangla Cantt is approximately 115 km from Rawalpindi and it should take you around 2, 2:15 hr to reach depending on the traffic, so we reached Cantt by 7:30 as we departed quite late, as all of us were visiting this Cantt for the first time, finding the guestroom was quite tricky. Just for the info there’s a KFC& PIZZA HUT right next to main gate of the Cantt, with the help of people and the MP we finally found our guest rooms the “Nokodar lodges” funny name.
It was mutually decided that we will order the food from the mess, and decided to explore the Cantt in the morning. The night was very short as all of us were having a good time and with almost no time to sleep all of us were on the breakfast table by 9am. Ready and done by 10 we were now waiting for the guide who was suppose to take us to take us to the skeet shooting club and the water sports club, By 10:15 we were on our way to the skeet shooting club all of us fired a couple round and none of us was able to hit a skeet.

Wasting no time at the skeet club we were excited for the water sports especially the “parasailing”.

The water sports club is at least a 20 minutes’ drive from the Cantt. There were a lot of facilities and the ones that we were interested in were the jet skis, speed boat and the parasailing. Starting with the speed boat, the ride is about 7 to 8 km round and it was fun, the thrill of speed is fun to witness. Unfortunately the jet skies were damaged and we were getting ready for the parasailing. The parasailing boat has a capacity of 15 people at a time 5 of us and 10 others were the firsts one to get on the boat and enjoy the parasailing, Parasailing was a once in a life time experience.
With the place getting crowded and ample amount of time we decided to visit the ROTAS FORT which is 30 min away from the Cantt, the roads pretty good and view is quite scenic. Rotas Fort a fortress built in 16th-century located near the city of Jhelum in the Pakistani province of Punjab. The fortress was built during the reign of the Pashtun king Sher Shah Suri between 1541 and 1548 in order to help subdue the rebellious tribes of the Potohar region of northern Punjab that were loyal to the Mughal crown. The fort is one of the largest and most formidable in the subcontinent. Rohtas Fort was never stormed by force, and has survived remarkably intact. The fort itself was an extraordinary part of history, but what was sad and alarming was the negligence of the local administration as the fort was in really bad shape. The fort is a must visit if you are slightly interested in the history and architecture, wear comfortable shoes you will have to walk a lot. It was around 4 we skipped lunch and upon our friends recommendation we decide to go to a restaurant in Jhelum which had the best food I had in a quite while everything we ordered was perfectly cook, Anyways we had a good laugh enjoyed the food and the company.
